How to Craft One Page Essays in an Hour

If you are thinking about creating an essay in only one hour then you must either be writing a reflective essay or personal essay about your life, or you must have all the research already done for a research paper.

Either way, you must read this guideline quickly and get to work on your essay immediately. In order to get your writing done quickly and efficiently, break down the one hour of time into blocks and assign each block with something you must accomplish. Here’s how you do it:

Step 1: Focus on your objective (5 minutes)

In this first step, you need to relax your mind a little bit and focus on the goal for this one page essay. Calming yourself down will help you focus more clearly and write more effectively.

Step 2: Write out a rough outline for 5 paragraphs (10 minutes)

The paragraphs will be the introduction, 3 main points to support the main idea of the essay, and the conclusion. This outline should include what the main points are as well as some supporting evidence for each. Spending a little time on this step will make the writing go much faster.

Step 3: Writing the first draft (20 minutes)

Write the first draft of the essay, using the outline and filling in the details. Write as much information as you need to in order to have sufficient substance to make a good one page essay. Write the middle 3 paragraphs first. Now write the introduction, which tells the reader what the essay will be about. Last of all, write the conclusion which summarizes the entire essay.

Step 4: Edit and revise (10 minutes)

Read over your essay. Read it out loud, word by word. Are there any clumsy parts that need to be fixed? Does it flow smoothly? Make any necessary changes. Don’t get hung up on the proofreading, that’s the next step. Once all the edits and revisions are completed move on to step 5.

Step 5: Proofread (10 minutes)

Proofread the essay, looking for spelling, grammar and word usage errors. Fix them all and read over the essay again. When everything looks perfect move onto the next step.

Step 6: (5 minutes)

Print off your essay or send it electronically, whichever your teacher requires. This should take no more than the allotted time of 5 minutes. You have just crafted a one page essay!
